What is Music in May?

Mim brings renowned musicians to Santa Cruz in a weekend full of concerts.  Our intent is to expand and broaden the audience of classical music, impact youth, increase awareness of and develop relationships with other local non-profit organizations serving the Santa Cruz community.

Dear Friends of Music in May,

Two of the world’s most famous classical musicians are coming to Santa Cruz.  That’s why I am so excited to write you about the third season of Music in May with its gift of beautiful chamber music, an outreach to youth and collaboration with charities that serve our community. 

I am most proud to announce 2 very special guest artists for 2010 - violist Michael Tree from the legendary Guarneri String Quartet and Ronald Leonard, former principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.  Two performances, Friday May 14^th and Saturday May 15^th , are scheduled.   

For two seasons we will forever be thankful to the Santa Cruz Chamber Players serving as our sponsor organization.  Starting this season the Aptos Community Foundation has graciously accepted to take over this role.  In addition, we will sell $20 tickets for each show.  A portion of ticket sales will go to support several local non-profits that include Aptos Community Foundation, The Cultural Council, Santa Cruz Neighbors and the music programs at Tierra Pacifica and Westlake Elementary.

Mim has been and will remain focused on uplifting and bringing our community together.  We sincerely appreciate your support on so many levels, especially in times of reduced finances for the arts!  Please consider a tax-deductible donation to help sustain the success of Mim.  Please make your check out to “Aptos Community Foundation,” noting on the memo line “Music in May.”  The mailing address for your contribution is:

Every donation of $150 will receive two 2-day regular tickets for Mim, all donations of $250 will receive two 2-day tickets in a gold circle seating area, and all donations of $500 and more will receive two 2-day gold circle tickets and an invitation for two to a lunch with the musicians.

The personal pleasure of attending will be exceeded only by the satisfaction that your participation benefits many others.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact me.
